What was the point of Stefan sacrificing himself?
I'm still wondering why Stefan had to die in the first place. Did they NEED to make sure Katharine was consumed by hellfire? They couldn't just lock her in a safe and bury her or something? Or, you know, stake her? What kind of supernatural creature was she then?
Also, Cade wanted to punish evil people. Katharine has no problems with evil people. So why did he make her second in command of hell? Honestly that storyline sucked ass

It would have been hilarious if Elena woke up to see Stefan with Caroline and Damon with Bonnie.
And they're perfectly happy and just like, "Hey Elena! "What's up?"
Like both her best friends with both her boyfriends. And she's just like , "
you.and you? and ..and you and YOU!!?But...but...WHAT ABOUT ME!!?"
And Damon says, "Look Elena, we'd love to hang but we've got reservations at this SUPER exclusive restaurant tonight, for a double date. Then we're goin' on little vacay for about a week we're all gonna be in Cabo, but we should totes catch up after that.! But right now, we gotta get going!! See ya!"
Elena:"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
Then Matt shows up and sys "Elena?" and she's like, "Sigh. I guess you'll do."
Grabs him by the arm and they walk away.
End of show.
Actually, I'm not a shipper of anyone. I just think that would be a funny alternate ending.

Anna and Jeremy if Anna lived
Anna and Jeremy were cute, I think the writers didn’t want to copy the Elena and Stefan relationship with Anna and Jeremy and I get that. It would have been interesting to see their dynamic play out especially since Anna is quite a bit older than Stefan and Damon. Her and Jeremy are both 16ish but she must have hundreds of years on him.
A part of the show that gets weirder for me the older I get is how all these vampires who are hundreds or even a thousand years old fall head over ass for modern teenagers. Anna and Jeremy aren’t high stakes characters so having their drama wouldn’t need to be the actual plot of an episode but background story. At some point there would have to be human jealousy of all the partners vampires have had over the years, vampires moving around a lot so they probably get bored quickly, etc.
I like the character and the actress for Anna but I respect how season 1 wasn’t afraid to kill of characters. The show felt more authentically dramatic. However, I’ll always want more Anna and Jeremy.
