📍کمبود یا ناترازی آب: مقیاس‌سازی واژگانی؟

یکی از چالش‌های اساسی در حوزۀ حکمرانی، ناتوانی در تعیین و درک مقیاس دقیق رویدادها و مسائل است. در بسیاری از موارد، مقیاس واقعی در پسِ واژگان نادقیق یا اغراق‌آمیز پنهان می‌شود و همین امر می‌تواند سرآغاز زنجیره‌ای از مشکلات باشد. برای مثال، زمانی که به‌جای بیان این‌که «۳۰ درصد منابع آب کاهش یافته است» گفته می‌شود «آب تمام شده است»، یا به‌جای عبارت «کمبود آب» از اصطلاح «ناترازی آب» استفاده می‌شود، تصویر واقعی مسئله مخدوش می‌گردد. چنین تغییراتی در بیان، ممکن است یک موضوع را بیش از اندازه برجسته یا بیش از حد کم‌رنگ جلوه دهد، یا حتی باعث بی‌تفاوتی عمومی و در مواردی ایجاد اضطراب غیرضروری شود.

در این شرایط، اهمیت «تفکر مقیاسی» (Magnitude Thinking) آشکار می‌شود؛ رویکردی که بر سنجش دقیق ابعاد و پیامدهای یک پدیده تأکید دارد. آموزش این مهارت از سطوح ابتدایی مدرسه تا دانشگاه ضروری است تا افراد بیاموزند چگونه به‌صورت علمی و متوازن به سنجش و تحلیل مسائل بپردازند و از خطاهای ناشی از برآورد یا بیان نادرست مقیاس جلوگیری کنند.
