Russian troops are trying to advance near Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, but they have not entered the town, Kyrylo Sazonov, a blogger and a soldier of the 41st Separate Mechanized Brigade deployed in the area, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) on May 23.

According to the crowd-sourced DeepState monitoring service, which tracks changes on the front line, Russian forces advanced near Chasiv Yar and in Klishchiivka and Krasnohorivka in the region as of May 23.

The General Staff did not elaborate on the extent of damage done to the air defense system or its location.
⚡️Russia again attacks Kharkiv, nearby town with aerial bombs.

Russian forces launched two aerial strikes with KAB bombs against Kharkiv and a nearby town of Derhachi on May 23, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported.

One person was reportedly injured in Derhachi.

The news came only hours after Russia launched a massive missile strike against Kharkiv and Liubotyn, killing at least seven people.
⚡️ Kuleba calls for additional Patriots in wake of 'heinous attack' on Kharkiv.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on May 23 again urged Kyiv's partners to provide additional Patriot air defense systems after Russia launched a deadly missile attack against Kharkiv Oblast.

"This heinous attack must remind everyone around the world that Ukraine still urgently needs seven 'Patriot' systems," Kuleba said on X, thanking Germany for pledging an additional system last month.

Energoatom: Workers restore power connection to Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant after potential blackout warning.

Ukraine's nuclear energy agency Energoatom said on May 23 that workers had restored the main external power line to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant after earlier warnings that it was disconnected.

The plant is now connected to two powerlines, Energoatom said.

Energoatom said earlier that the disconnected power supply caused the facility to be on the "verge of blackout." It did not specify the reason for the disconnection.
