Efficacy and Safety of Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Pancreatic Cancer
📄 New Paper by International Hematology Oncology of Pediatrics Experts (IHOPE)
Conducted by Dr. Dorsa Safari, under the guidance of Dr. Mohammad Fakhrolmobasheri, and supervised by Dr. Saeed Soleymanjahi a clinical fellow in the Department of Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
🔬 This study investigates intraperitoneal chemotherapy (IPC) for pancreatic cancer with peritoneal metastases. While IPC shows promise, there is no consensus on the optimal methods, drugs, or doses.
💊 Various IPC techniques are reviewed, including normothermic IPC (NIPEC) and pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC), with PIPAC providing deeper drug penetration. Combining IPC with systemic therapies or procedures like CRS/HIPEC may improve outcomes.
