I can imagine Almighty God every morning saying to the sun, ’Do it again’; and every evening. saying to the stars, ‘Do it again.’

And when a child is born into the world I can imagine Him giving an encore, and asking that another child be brought into the world.

When Our Divine Lord came into the world He continued that, and He taught it very forcefully. There was a kind of infinity about the way He spoke and acted. There was a monotony about His life. Thirty years in obeying; three years in teaching; three years in redeeming. There was an infinity about forgiveness.

How many times should I forgive, seven times? No: seventy times seven. An infinity about prayer – pray unceasingly. An infinity about sacrifice — the monotony of it all— 'Take up your cross daily and follow Me.’

That is why, I suppose, He cursed the fig-tree: it was not bearing fruit in the season when it should have; and to teach us the lesson He cursed it, so that if we are not enjoying doing the same good thing over and over again and bearing fruit in season we will have the same fate as the poor fig-tree.

The way to escape monotony, it all comes back to this great lesson: the proper way to escape monotony and to escape seriousness is to cultivate that divine sense, of humor. Nothing is really monotonous if you have an end in view.

This Thanksgiving, we here at the Ex Cathedra staff are thankful for a few things:

1- we are thankful for having a nice community

2- we are thankful for this opportunity to bring some of Catholicism to these demon-ridden social medias

3- we are thankful for NOT being sedevacantists

And most importantly,

4- we are thankful for not being protestants, much less puritans

Today we lost Mrs. Leslie Fish.

I first met her work through the song “The Sun is also a Warrior”, and fell in love with classics like “The Roman Centurion’s Song” and “The Ballad of Three Kings”.

I’m happy for having been able to contact her, even if indirectly, through her team noticing my humble work when I uploaded Cold Iron. It’s been an honor.

I’m not sure of her religious background or personal beliefs, but I hope in God to see Mrs. Fish performing live in heaven.

May God grant her soul eternal rest.
