WHY DID THE CHURCH IN CORINTH APPEAL TO ROME AND NOT JOHN THE APOSTLE ?... The Answer is Papal Supremacy❀️

One of the earliest pieces of evidence for the papacy comes from around AD 96, during a crisis in the Church of Corinth. Some presbyters had been unjustly removed, and guess who they turned to for help? Not the Apostle John, who was still alive and living closer to them in Ephesus, but Clement, bishop of Rome (Pope Clement I). That's huge. Think about it: Why would a church bypass a living apostle nearby and appeal all the way to Rome unless Rome already held a special authority? Clement didn't respond casually either. His letter (known as 1 Clement) is firm, authoritative, and calls for obedience. He even warns of spiritual danger for those who ignore his instructions. And the Corinthians accepted it! In fact, they read his letter publicly in their church for decades afterward.

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 16:15-18)

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

INTERESTINGLY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS IN THE BIBLE AS WELL.... See Acts 9:31 it's it's original greek❀️ where the Church all thought is called "Ekklesia Katholes"... Aka the Catholic Church.

According to St. John Damascene, those who get baptised again, after having been baptised with the Trinitarian formula, are "crucifying Christ afresh" (De Fide Orth. IV, 9)

At Chalcedon, Pope St Leo the Great was the one who drafted the main document, the Tome, and it was widely hailed by the bishops in attendance as masterful defense of orthodoxy. Pope Leo the Great's authoritative role at the council exemplifies the recognition of Roman Supremacy. His "Tome" was accepted as a standard of orthodoxy, and his legates presided over the council, affirming the pope's authority . To Quote Session II of the Acts of the Council records:

β€œAfter the reading of the foregoing epistle [The Tome of Leo], the most reverend bishops cried out: β€˜This is the faith of the fathers! This is the faith of the apostles! So we all believe! Thus the orthodox believe! Anathema to him who does not thus believe! Peter has spoken thus through Leo! . . . This is the true faith! Those of us who are orthodox thus believe! This is the faith of the Fathers!’” (Acts of the Council, session 2 [A.D. 451]).

Papal Supremacy has always been there since the early Church. But sadly the orthodoxes aren't able to grasp it's true meaning. The Pope is Servei Servum Dei. The successor of the Prince of the Apostles.

The Eastern fathers at the 6th ecumenical council believed Pope St. Agatho taught papal infallibility. They acknowledged that Agatho's letter was divinely written and St. Peter spoke through him:

"For the ancient city of Rome handed thee a ▢️CONFESSION OF DIVINE CHARACTER,◀️ and a chart from the sunsetting raised up the day of dogmas, and made the darkness manifest, and ▢️PETER SPOKE THROUGH AGATHO◀️ Peter spoke through Agatho, and thou, O autocratic King, according to the divine decree, with the Omnipotent Sharer of thy throne, didst judge." (The Third Council of Constantinople: The Prosphoneticus to the Emperor, 348)

β€œ..and we acknowledge that this letter was ▢️DIVINELY WRITTEN AS BY THE CHIEF OF THE APOSTLES◀️, and through it we have cast out the heretical sect of many clement scepter.” (Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, vol. 14,)

St. Ambrose teaches that, after death, the souls who are going to Heaven, will first undergo a purgation by way of fire. This fire will be different from the fire of Hell and will burn away minor sins.
